Inp.polri.go.id - Badung. In commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the Bali bombings, Bali Acting Governor Sang Made Mahendra Jaya highlighted the importance of interfaith tolerance and societal harmony.

Speaking at the Ground Zero Monument in Kuta on Saturday (12/10/2024), he reflected on the tragedy that claimed 202 lives in 2002, saying it left deep scars and asking attendees to view this somber occasion as an opportunity for reflection and peace-building.

“Let us transform this suffering into a source of strength,” he said, emphasizing the need to confront the choice between perpetuating hatred or fostering peace.

Wiryanata, the Head of the Bali National Unity and Politics Agency, added that everyone plays a role in promoting peace and understanding. He encouraged families of the victims to reconcile with the past and work towards a better future.

The gathering ended with a prayer for global peace, urging unity as humanity strives to combat conflict and violence.

“May the light of peace shine in Bali, Indonesia, and throughout the world,” Acting Governor Mahendra said, as reported by antaranews.com.
