inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Central Kalimantan Regional Police have deployed 7,000 joint personnel to optimize forest and land fire mitigation.

"We held a rally for our troops to ensure the readiness of personnel and infrastructure for forest and land fire mitigation," said Central Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Iwan Kurniawan on Monday (4/20/2026).

Iwan explained that the 7,000 personnel are a joint force consisting of the Indonesian National Police (INP), the Indonesian Military (TNI), the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government, and Basarnas (National Search and Rescue Agency).

The joint personnel have been instructed to conduct routine patrols in locations prone to forest and land fires. In addition, aerial surveillance has been maximized to reach difficult-to-access points.

He also requested that all personnel involved take immediate action if any hotspots are detected. This is to prevent the fires from spreading to other areas, which could endanger public lives.

"Strengthen communication between personnel so that the joint team can act immediately upon receiving information about a hotspot," Iwan emphasized, while he urged the public not to clear land by burning. 

The provincial government, through the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), continues to coordinate with various parties, including the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), to monitor developments in natural conditions so that they can adjust regional status determinations to support speedy response on the ground.
