Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Embassies in Yangon and Bangkok repatriated 90 Indonesian citizens from the Myanmar-Thailand border on Thursday (22/1/2026).
The group, previously trapped in illicit online scamming and gambling operations in Myawaddy, arrived at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 5.30 am to undergo assessment and reintegration support.
"Repatriation is currently being prioritized for citizens prepared to cover their travel costs independently," the Ministry said in a statement, noting that 230 people remain in the pipeline for gradual return.
This third wave of repatriation came after intensive crackdowns by Myanmar authorities on cybercrime syndicates targeting foreign workers. To date, over 200 Indonesians have been rescued from the region since December 2025, according to antaranews.com.
The Ministry emphasized that the victims often lack valid travel documents and work permits, complicating legal recovery. The government continues to urge prospective migrant workers to utilize official recruitment channels to avoid the severe risks of exploitation, forced labor, and legal entrapment in overseas conflict zones.
