inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs again facilitated the repatriation of 91 Indonesian citizens (WNI) trapped in an online fraud syndicate from Myawaddy, Myanmar, on the morning of January 30th.
"This repatriation is the fourth wave of evacuations from Myawaddy following the third wave of repatriations carried out on January 21-22, 2026," read a written statement from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday (1/30/2026).
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the successful repatriation was the result of a long and intensive process carried out by the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Yangon and the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also coordinated with the Ministry of Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI), the Criminal Investigation Agency, the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), Immigration, and the Ministry of Social Affairs to ensure proper law enforcement and prevention.
According to the statement, several Indonesian citizens have agreed to cooperate with law enforcement officials to report their alleged recruiters, who ultimately led to their entanglement in the online fraud syndicate.
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urges Indonesian citizens, especially prospective Indonesian migrant workers, to always follow official procedures if they wish to work abroad and to comply with applicable laws and regulations, both in Indonesia and in the destination country.
Previously, in the first wave, 56 Indonesian citizens were repatriated from Myawaddy on December 8, 2025, arriving in Jakarta via Bangkok on December 9, 2025.
In the second wave, 54 Indonesian citizens were repatriated and arrived in Indonesia on December 13, 2025, and in the third wave, 90 Indonesian citizens were repatriated from the Myanmar-Thailand border and arrived in Indonesia on January 22, 2026.
With the repatriation of the fourth wave of Indonesian citizens today, the total number of Indonesian citizens repatriated from Myanmar is 291.
