inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Trade, along with several ministries and institutions, has agreed to expedite the distribution of basic necessities to various regions in Indonesia as a precautionary measure against potential extreme weather disruptions ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026.

The Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Iqbal Shoffan Shofwan, stated that based on the results of a coordination meeting, the national availability of basic necessities such as eggs, cooking oil, chilies, and broiler chicken is secure.

However, weather factors are a major concern for the government, particularly in February and March 2026. Information from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) indicates that regions such as Sulawesi and Papua are expected to experience high rainfall, potentially hampering distribution channels.

"We agreed earlier that all distributors, including state-owned food companies, Bulog and ID FOOD, have launched the distribution of basic necessities to the regions at the beginning of this month (February)," said the Director General of PDN on Thursday (January 29, 2026).

In addition, the Ministry of Trade is also coordinating with the Ministry of Transportation to ensure the readiness of port services, including the availability of containers and the smooth flow of logistics.

According to the Director General of Domestic Trade, these anticipatory measures are being taken to maintain the stability of the supply and prices of basic necessities during the National Religious Holidays period, particularly Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

"So, when the rainy season arrives in February and March, the goods will have already arrived at their destinations," explained the Director General of Domestic Trade.

The Ministry of Trade routinely coordinates with the National Food Agency (Bapanas), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), the Ministry of Transportation, the Presidential Staff Office, State-Owned Food Enterprises (BUMN), and associations to monitor the availability of basic necessities throughout Indonesia.

Beyond the availability of goods, the Ministry of Trade, along with other relevant ministries/institutions, also strives to ensure and maintain price stability to ensure they remain in line with the Highest Retail Price (HET) and the Consumer Reference Purchase Price (HAP).
