Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh has provided assistance to 97 Indonesian nationals detained by police in Chrey Thum, Cambodia, following a reported riot involving suspected online scam operations.
“The Embassy immediately coordinated with local authorities and confirmed the condition of all Indonesian citizens, who are now safe and receiving proper treatment,” the Embassy said in a statement on Sunday (19/10/2025).
The embassy supplied instant food, medicine, and sanitation kits, including items for women, to those being held. Of the 97 Indonesians, 86 are detained at a police station, while 11 are hospitalized, as reported by antaranews.com.
Cambodian authorities have reportedly launched an initial investigation and detained four Indonesians suspected of committing violence.
Officials in Kandal Province said the group would soon be transferred to an immigration detention facility in Phnom Penh before deportation. The Indonesian Embassy pledged to continue monitoring the case and ensuring the legal and humanitarian rights of all detainees.
