inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A man with the initials KB (41) was arrested by police after allegedly vandalizing a car by throwing stones, shattering the window on Durian Road, Jagakarsa, South Jakarta.

Jagakarsa Sector Police Chief, Police Assistant Superintendent Nurma Dewi, stated that KB had been detained for questioning regarding the vandalism.

"Today, we have arrested a person suspected of vandalizing a car on Durian Road, Jagakarsa. His initials are KB, 41 years old," Nurma told reporters in Jakarta on Thursday (9/3/2026).

Investigators are currently investigating KB's motive for the vandalism. Police have also questioned him directly regarding the chronology of the incident.

In his statement, KB admitted that he was initially on his way to church. On the way, he saw a man wearing a white shirt around a car and attempted to stop it.

KB claimed not to know the driver or the man in white. However, he said he was compelled to help after seeing the man fall from the vehicle.

"I just wanted to help. When I got there, the driver immediately kicked the gas, and the person fell out of the car, hung, and rolled onto the asphalt. After that, he got up and shouted, ‘Thief!!’,” said KB in a video.

The screams made KB suspect the driver was the thief. He then joined the chase.

"So I immediately joined the chase. He was going to hit me. The driver was also driving on a busy road," he said.

During the chase, KB admitted that he became emotional because he felt no one else was trying to stop the car.

He then asked the driver to open the car door, wanting to ask why the vehicle continued moving despite someone falling.

"I told him to open the car door, wanting to ask why you ran away when your friend fell out of the car. But because he was afraid, he wouldn't open it. So, I broke the window," he said.

KB admitted that he deliberately broke the car window to stop the vehicle and prevent it from moving again.

"Yes, I broke it so he wouldn't continue driving," he said.

Previously, the incident drew attention after a video of a man throwing rocks at a car circulated on social media.

In the video, the man is seen throwing rocks after an incident involving a man and the vehicle.

Police are still investigating the sequence of events to determine the chronology and motive behind the car vandalism.
