Inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. The Aceh Regional Police have arrested a man for allegedly spreading blasphemous content and hate speech across social media platforms. 

Following a cross-island manhunt, investigators tracked the suspect, identified by the initials DS to Bengkayang, West Kalimantan, before escorting him back to Banda Aceh on Friday for formal detention.

"He was arrested based on a police report filed on November 18, 2025, concerning alleged hate speech and religious defamation reported by a student from North Aceh," said Senior Superintendent Joko Krisdiyanto, the Head of Public Relations for the Aceh Police, on Saturday (21/2/2026), as cited by antaranews.com

The arrest resulted from a coordinated effort between the Aceh Cyber Crimes Unit and local West Kalimantan authorities. 

After a virtual case presentation, suspect DS was named a suspect and now faces charges under the Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law.
