inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Aceh Regional Police has determined eight Rohingya immigrant smugglers in South Aceh Regency have been listed on the wanted list (DPO).

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of Aceh Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ade Harianto, said that the eight smugglers each had their own roles in the smuggling of Rohingya immigrants.

"In this case, the police have arrested three smugglers and named eight others as fugitives. We are going deep into their roles," explained Ade on Wednesday (10/23/2024).

Of the eight fugitives, one of them is a convict in the case of smuggling Rohingya immigrants in West Aceh Regency several months ago.

"The convict with the initials H is currently on conditional leave. We have also written a letter to the prison where H is serving his sentence and conveyed his determination as a suspect and DPO status," said the Director of Criminal Investigation.

He said that investigators were investigating H's involvement and how he was connected to the alleged smuggling of Rohingya immigrants in South Aceh Regency.

"From the results of the investigation, they were moved to an Aceh fishing boat in the Andaman waters and then taken to South Aceh," explained Ade.

He said from these facts it was discovered that there was money involved in this activity. However, how much per person was paid is still under investigation.

"In the case there is also an allegation that a number of Rohingya ethnic immigrants were successfully landed in South Aceh and they were taken to Riau. We are still investigating this allegation from the three suspects who were just recently arrested," concluded Ade.
