Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) have pledged full support to the Ministry of Culture in safeguarding the nation’s cultural heritage and combating illegal trade and smuggling of historical artifacts abroad.
“The Attorney General’s Office stands ready to assist all initiatives by the Ministry of Culture to protect and recover Indonesian cultural assets that have been taken overseas,” said Attorney General ST Burhanuddin during a press briefing after the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoUa on Tuesday (21/10/2025).
The MoU covers legal assistance, criminal prevention, protection of strategic programs, and data exchange, according to antaranews.com
INP Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo also welcomed the partnership, emphasizing the police’s commitment to securing cultural assets as part of Indonesia’s constitutional mandate.
The Ministry of Culture signed similar agreements with seven institutions, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, and the National Archives (ANRI).
