Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has unveiled a media center capable of hosting up to 500 local and international journalists for the 2023 Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum Summit.
Usman, the Director General of Information and Public Communication at the Ministry, detailed during a press conference on Monday (18/9/23), "The media center's capacity is comparable to the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (GPDR) in 2022, though the final number of attendees may vary."
Scheduled for October 10-11, 2023, the summit will be held at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) 1 and 2, with the media center situated on the 3rd floor of the Tanjung Benoa Hall in BNDCC 2.
Operational from October 9 to 14, 2023, the media center will be equipped with a range of facilities to support journalists' reporting endeavors, including computers, internet access, dedicated TV station areas, dining facilities, medical facilities, media kits, lounges, press conference rooms, information hubs, large screens, and even shuttle buses for easy mobility during the events.
Usman highlighted the full support received from Telkom, along with the cyber teams from the Data and Information Facilities Center (PDSI) of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency, to ensure website security.
"We will provide press releases in two languages, along with photos and videos. The videos will be clean feeds, devoid of any host broadcaster logos," he said as reported by antaranews.com.
He went on to announce that media registration for coverage of the 2023 AIS Forum Summit is accessible from September 18th to October 5th, 2023, through the website http://mediaregistration.aisforum2023.id.
The AIS Forum Summit 2023 anticipates the participation of representatives from 51 archipelagic and island nations, aiming for 25 head of state/government-level attendees and 30 to 47 ministerial-level representatives.
Additionally, the summit will host nine leaders of international organizations, including the Pacific Island Forum (PIF), the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG), the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and leaders from various government and non-government organizations, such as the United Nations (UN), World Bank, International Monetary Fund (IMF), Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
Usman emphasized that the primary objective of hosting this year's AIS Forum Summit is to formalize the AIS Forum as an international organization, in the form of an agreement or charter.
The summit's main theme is "Fostering Collaboration, Enabling Innovation for Our Ocean and Our Future," with three sub-themes focusing on Blue Economy, Our Oceans, Our Future, and Solidarity. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
