Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi reached the 2024 US Open mixed doubles semifinals but fell short of advancing to the final.

Despite the loss, she made history as the first Indonesian to reach the semifinals in three Grand Slam tournaments.

Aldila, partnered with India’s Rohan Bopanna, was defeated by American duo Taylor Townsend and Donald Young, with a score of 3-6, 4-6, at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in New York on Tuesday, according to antaranews.com.

This year’s US Open added to her impressive record after reaching the semifinals at the French Open 2023 and Wimbledon 2023, both alongside Matwe Middelkoop of the Netherlands.

"I’m thrilled with this achievement despite the challenges. I will continue to strive for better results next year," Aldila said in a release on Wednesday (4/9/2024).

She also competed in women’s doubles at the US Open, partnering with Japan's Ena Shibahara, reaching the second round before losing to Slovakia/UK pair Tereza Mihalikova and Olivia Nicholls.
