Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The West Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police has started investigating an acid attack on a man and woman riding a motorcycle on Jalan Nusa Indah, Duri Kosambi, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, on the night of Sunday.

The incident, which has gone viral on social media, was first reported by the Instagram account @jakartabarat24jam, according to antaranews.com.

West Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent M Syahduddi confirmed the attack on Tuesday (3/9/2024), saying, "We have received the report and it is under investigation by Cengkareng Police."

He added that a joint team from Cengkareng Sub-regional Police and the West Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit has started to identify and hunt the suspects.

"Our team is conducting a thorough investigation to catch those responsible," Chief Syahduddi said.

CCTV footage shows the victims being followed by two suspects who then threw acid at them before fleeing the scene. The male victim, in severe pain, was assisted by bystanders who quickly provided water to help alleviate his suffering.
