inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Environment and Forestry Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq emphasized that all cases of forest and land fires violations, including in Jambi Province, will be thoroughly investigated.
"In accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 23 of 2020, I am mandated to enforce the law regarding violations of environmental damage," said the Minister of Environment and Forestry on Wednesday (7/30/2025).
Minister Hanif stated that to confirm the existence of hotspots in Jambi Province, he, along with the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) Suharyanto and the Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Dwikorita Karnawati, as well as Jambi Governor Al Haris, conducted aerial surveys to confirm the hotspots.
"In general, the aerial monitoring results show that there is still smoke emitting in one location in Gambut Jaya Village, Muaro Jambi Regency, but the fire has been extinguished," said Hanif.
The Ministry of Environment (KLH) team immediately conducted a further investigation into the case, as there was visible environmental damage, providing sufficient evidence to warrant an environmental dispute.
"In accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 23 of 2020, which mandates the President to activate all law enforcement agencies to the maximum extent possible regarding violations in Jambi, as this is our focus in handling this matter," explained the Minister of Environment.
He confirmed that the forest and land fire case in Gambut Jaya Village, Muaro Jambi Regency, had been handled and that the results of the aerial monitoring showed that the burned area had not yet entered the Berbak National Park forest area.
