inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) stated that there are more than 1 million accounts suspected of being linked to criminal acts, based on PPATK analysis and inspections since 2020.

PPATK Public Relations Substance Group Coordinator M. Natsir Kongah detailed that of these 1 million accounts, more than 150,000 are nominee accounts obtained through account trading, hacking, or other unlawful means.

These accounts were then used to hold proceeds of crime and became dormant.

Meanwhile, more than 50,000 of these accounts were recorded as having no transaction activity before receiving the illegal funds.

PPATK also discovered more than 10 million social assistance recipient accounts that had not been used for more than three years.

The IDR 2.1 trillion in social assistance funds remained idle, indicating that distribution was not reaching its intended target.

In addition, PPATK discovered more than 2,000 accounts belonging to government agencies and expenditure treasurers that were declared dormant, with a total fund reaching IDR 500 billion. However, functionally, these accounts should be active and monitored.

"If this situation remains, it will have a negative impact on the Indonesian economy and harm the interests of the legitimate owners of these accounts," said Natsir, Wednesday (7/30/2025).

PPATK recommends that all banking sectors tighten the management of dormant accounts.

This includes improving know-your-customer (KYC) policies, implementing comprehensive customer due diligence (CDD), and encouraging customers to actively maintain their accounts.

Although banks have implemented the best protection standards, PPATK emphasizes that active participation from account owners is still necessary.

PPATK ensures that public rights are protected. This step aligns with the Government's Asta Cita (Asta Cita) and PPATK's duties, functions, and authorities.

If customers receive notification of a dormant account, they are advised to immediately contact their bank for further verification. This is important to do for the security of customer data and funds.
