inp.polri.go.id - Intan Jaya. An Armed Criminal Group (KKB) is suspected of carrying out a shooting at Bilorai Airport, Sugapa, Intan Jaya Regency, Central Papua, on Wednesday (7/23/2025), at around 11:32 a.m.
Joint personnel from the Damai Cartenz Operations Task Force, the Intan Jaya Sub-regional Police, and the Indonesian National Military (TNI) Special Forces were immediately put on alert to anticipate further disturbances.
The Head of Damai Cartenz Operations, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, confirmed the incident and emphasized that joint personnel remain on alert to ensure the situation remains safe and under control.
"There were no casualties in this incident, but we remain vigilant and are taking anticipatory measures to maintain security," said Brigadier General Faizal on Thursday (7/24/2025).
The shots, he said, were fired four times from the direction of the old airport terminal, which is no longer in use. At the time of the incident, military personnel and the Intan Jaya Sub-regional Police were securing the airport area.
"There were no casualties or material losses in the incident," he said.
He explained that joint forces responded with return fire and gave chase, but the two perpetrators, suspected members of the armed criminal group (KKB), managed to escape towards the Wabu River and into the forest. Both were known to be carrying pistols.
He further stated that the shooting is strongly suspected to be an act of revenge for the death of KKB leader Enos Tipagau. Enos' death occurred during a law enforcement operation by Damai Cartenz Operations Task Force on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Baitapa Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya.
