inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) and the Ministry of Finance's Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC) successfully thwarted the trafficking of 4,080 MDMA (methylenedioxymethamphetamine) pills, or ecstasy, from a man identified as AZ.
Acting Deputy for Eradication at the BNN, Roy Hardi Siahaan, said the case began with information from Pasar Baru Customs officers in Jakarta on Wednesday (2/18/2026) regarding a suspicious package suspected of containing narcotics originating from Luxembourg.
"From there, the BNN then coordinated with Pos Indonesia and Customs to conduct an x-ray inspection," Roy said in a statement on Thursday (2/26/2026).
As a result, the package, with receipt number CP225462724LU, was confirmed to contain Class I narcotics, MDMA.
Officers then controlled the shipment to its destination in Cibatu Sub-district, South Cikarang. On Thursday (2/19/2026), at around 10:25 PM, a joint team arrested AZ at a rented house while retrieving the package.
When opened, Roy revealed that the package contained six plastic bags strongly suspected of containing ecstasy. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being ordered by a man with the initials AFAM, a foreign national suspected of being part of an international network.
Suspect AZ is being charged with the crime of narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking as referred to in Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, subsidiary to Article 609 paragraph (2) letter a of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code, as amended by Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments, which carries a penalty of life imprisonment.
Through the disclosure of this case, the BNN together with Customs and Excise affirmed their commitment to carrying out the war on narcotics to its roots, considering the increasingly complex modus operandi of international narcotics networks entering Indonesia.
