Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Bank Indonesia (BI) has refuted viral social media claims alleging the central bank issued a new Rp 5 million banknote featuring Indonesia’s first president, Sukarno.

"If the public finds Rupiah designs that differ from those in official circulation, please do not believe them easily," Bank Indonesia said through its official Instagram account (@bank_indonesia) on Wednesday (22/7/2026).

The central bank urged the public to verify all currency information through official channels. An analysis using ZeroGPT indicated a 95 percent probability that the viral image circulating on Facebook was generated by artificial intelligence (AI).
