inp.polri.go.id - Serang. The Indonesian Quarantine Agency (Barantin) destroyed 2.9 tons of illegal wild boar meat that did not have quarantine certificates at the Cilegon Animal Quarantine Installation (IKH).

This destruction was carried out following the success of Banten Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Agency in thwarting the shipment of meat without official documents from Central Lampung to Palangkaraya.

"After undergoing laboratory testing, this meat was proven to contain high levels of microbial contamination, making it not edible and is dangerous to health," said Head of Barantin, Sahat M. Panggabean in his statement in Serang City, Banten, Friday (5/8/2025), quoted by Antaranews.

The meat with an estimated value of around IDR 200 million was transported using a Colt Diesel truck and was found without a mandatory animal product sanitation certificate according to Law Number 21 of 2019 concerning Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine.

"This wild boar meat does not meet the applicable requirements and is suspected of violating Article 88. This violation can be subject to a maximum criminal sanction of two years in prison and a fine of up to Rp2 billion," said Sahat.

Barantin emphasized its commitment to ensuring that animal food products in circulation meet the ASUH (Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal) principles.

In addition, this effort is also a step to prevent the transmission of zoonotic diseases ahead of the momentum of Eid al-Adha.

"The circulation of uncertified wild boar meat definitely could cause public unrest, especially if it is misused by mixing it with other livestock meat. This has an impact on public health and food security," he concluded.
