inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Rusdi Kirana said that early prevention of drug abuse is important to be carried out considering the high rate of drug distribution among young people, including students.
Referring to data from the National Narcotics Agency (BNN), Rusdi said that the number of drug users in Indonesia is currently estimated to reach 3.3 million people, dominated by people of productive age between 15 and 49 years.
"As a parent, one thing I fear most is if our children are involved in drugs and if they did, whatever we do seems useless," said Rusdi quoted by Antaranews on Friday (5/9/2025).
Rusdi also emphasized his commitment to assist drug eradication efforts through collaboration with the police, prosecutors, and BNN, as the owner of an airline.
He offered the use of his company's fleet and network as a medium for socializing drug prevention.
"I have my own people, thousands of employees, who can be used as agents for socializing drug prevention. We are welcomed to be involved in socializing drug prevention," he said.
He also invited BNN and the police to collaborate with shipping companies in providing education to employees so that they can recognize the mode of drug smuggling through packages.
