Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) and Communication and Information Ministry (Kominfo) joined hand in intercepting hoax and disinformation content. According to Bawaslu member, Herwyn JH Malonda says the prevention measures becomes part of commitment between stakeholders for a safe and conducive elections. “Through social media monitoring, we asked Kominfo to help us in taking down quickly social media account that potentially disturb the elections,” said Herwyn quoted from Bawaslu official page on Sunday (9/17/2023). He also asked Kominfo to continuously help improving the capabilities of Bawaslu cyber monitoring task force, which is considered a crucial part in tackling challenges ahead of elections. “Our task force is considerably new, which is why we need the training,” he adds. He conveys that his team could identify and classify internet and social media violations. On the other hand, the Minister of Communication and Information, Budi Ari Setiadi welcomes the initiation from Bawaslu in preventing hoax and disinformation together. He said that the prevention steps require fast-decision making. “Regarding fast-mechanism, we do need to take down every ill-content. The point is, we have to quickly determine if it should be taken down or not,” he said in conclusion.
