Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Bureau of Disaster Victim Identification has collected data from 13 families that have reported missing relatives following Wednesday's fatal fire at Glodok Plaza in West Jakarta.
“Data from the families have been collected, though some details are being completed,” Senior Superintendent Ahmad Fauzi, the INP Head of Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) Bureau, said on Saturday (18/1/2025).
He added that the DNA samples are being taken from relatives, including parents, to assist the process, as reported by antaranews.com.
The thirteen families have reported their missing relatives to the INP’s Bhayangkara Hospital in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, where the police have begun identifying victims through DNA matching.
Regarding the seven bodies received by the hospital, Chief Fauzi confirmed that the initial examination was complete.
However, DNA testing may take up to two weeks for final identification. Currently, seven bodies have been evacuated, while 14 people remain missing.
