Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur. The Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) has evacuated 17 crocodiles from a holding facility in Kampung Gunung Calung, Cianjur, West Java, to BKSDA South Sumatra on Wednesday (16/10/2024).

Diah Qurani Kristina, the Head of BKSDA in Bogor, said that the total number of crocodiles in the facility remains uncertain, as five crocodiles had previously escaped due to a damaged wall.

"So far, 17 crocodiles have been evacuated, and efforts are ongoing to relocate all crocodiles to South Sumatra," she said, as reported by antaranew.com.

The evacuation process has been challenging, as high water levels in the pond make it difficult for the crocodiles, hiding underwater, to be captured. Two pumps have been used since morning, with full evacuation expected within two days.
