Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) responded to the Bahrain Football Association's (BFA) request to hold the second leg of their World Cup 2026 Qualifiers match scheduled on 25 March 2024 in a neutral venue, citing security concerns.
The concerns arose after the first leg in Bahrain, which ended in a 2-2 draw on 10 October 2024. Indonesian netizens expressed their anger on social media, accusing the referee of favoring Bahrain, particularly for extending injury time without clear justification.
PSSI Exco member Arya Sinulingga assured that Bahrain’s safety would be guaranteed during their visit to Jakarta, highlighting Indonesia’s success in hosting international events like the U-17 World Cup.
"Indonesia is a friendly country, and we will ensure fair play and security," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
