Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) is ramping up efforts to safeguard Labuan Bajo, a super-priority tourism destination in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, from the looming threat of narcotics.
This initiative comes in the form of the "Shining Tourism" (Wisata Bersinar) declaration, aimed at establishing Labuan Bajo as a haven free from narcotics.
"We declare Shining Tourism, tourism that is free from narcotics, as a precautionary measure to ensure that Labuan Bajo will not become a haven for narcotics users, let alone the distribution or trafficking of narcotics," said BNN Head Petrus Reinhard Golose on Friday (17/11/23).
The Shining Tourism declaration is one of the activities during Golose's visit to Labuan Bajo as part of the Prevention and Eradication of Drug Abuse and Trafficking (P4GN) initiative.
The declaration represents a commitment from BNN and all stakeholders in West Manggarai to collaborate in various preventive measures against the significant vulnerabilities in the renowned tourism sector.
In addition to the declaration, Golose engaged in a P4GN dialogue to enhance the commitment and active involvement of stakeholders and tourism practitioners in Labuan Bajo. The aim is to encourage efforts for both prevention and surveillance of narcotics abuse and trafficking.
