Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Canada has officially eased travel requirements for Indonesian citizens, allowing the use of electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) in place of a visa for air travel and transit beginning Tuesday (26/5/2026).
According to Canada’s official government site, the policy applies to Indonesians who have held a Canadian Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) within the past 10 years or currently possess a valid U.S. non-immigrant visa. Those with valid TRVs may continue using them for entry, as reported by antaranews.com.
eTA is an online pre-screening system for air passengers before entering Canada. Immigration Minister Lena Metlege Diab said the change is part of Canada’s broader Indo-Pacific engagement strategy, aiming to strengthen trade, investment, and people-to-people connections.
Indonesia is Canada’s third-largest trading partner in Southeast Asia, with bilateral trade reaching USD 6.75 billion in 2025. Canada also welcomed around 18,300 Indonesian visitors that year.
