Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia, in its capacity as the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), reaffirmed its commitment on Saturday (11/4/2026) to combatting selective approaches and "double standards" in global human rights advocacy.
"Indonesia consistently rejects the politicization of human rights and imbalanced, selective approaches that often manifest as double standards in country-specific resolutions," said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Vahd Nabyl A. Mulachela, as reported by antaranews.com.
Leading the 61st Session of the UNHRC from February to March 2026, which was the first time Indonesia has presided over the body since its inception in 2006, the government is championing the theme "Presidency for All."
This initiative seeks to bridge regional divides through inclusive dialogue rather than punitive measures. Beyond the UN, Indonesia is actively strengthening the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) and pursuing bilateral human rights frameworks. By fostering a "bridge-building" foreign policy, Indonesia aims to ensure that human rights protections are applied universally and respectfully, rather than as tools for political leverage.
