Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) will arrive in Ilaga on Tuesday to investigate the burning of an Amole Air cargo plane that caught fire after landing at Aminggaru Airport, Puncak District, Central Papua.
“The aircraft, flight number PK-PPI, caught fire after landing and crashing into a Kopasgat security post at Aminggaru Airport,” Puncak Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Inspector. Mardi Marpaung told antaranews.com on Monday (26/8/2025).
He said preliminary reports indicated the plane lost balance as it touched down, causing it to veer off course before hitting the post.
The charred wreckage has been moved to the side of the runway to clear operations, with normal flights expected to resume Tuesday. Only one flight was permitted Monday to evacuate the crew.
The pilot, Andi Rezhar, and technician, Amianus, were flown to Timika for treatment. KNKT investigators are expected to assess technical and operational factors behind the accident.
