Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur The Cianjur Sub-regional Police in West Java will close access to the Puncak area from Cianjur on 31 December 2024, starting at 6 pm until 1 January 2025, at 2 am to prevent severe traffic congestion during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Cianjur Police Head of Traffic Senior Inspector Anjar Maulana announced on Thursday (26/12/2024) that the closure will be enforced at the Bundaran Tugu Lampu Gentur in Cianjur.
"Vehicles heading to Puncak-Cipanas should pass before 6 pm to avoid delays," he advised, as reported by antaranews.com.
Only vehicles with Cianjur license plates and IDs will be allowed through, while others will be redirected to alternative routes such as Jonggol-Sukabumi. The measure, a routine effort during New Year’s Eve, aims to prevent long traffic jams that could stretch for kilometers.
Around 700 personnel will be deployed to manage traffic and ensure safety at key points along the Puncak-Cipanas route. Additional efforts include traffic rerouting and urging hotels and tourist spots to expand parking areas.
With ongoing heavy rainfall in Cianjur, drivers are advised to remain vigilant as roads in southern regions are still under repair due to previous natural disasters. Dense fog in areas like Puncak Pas may also hinder visibility.
To reduce accidents, warning signs have been installed along high-risk zones, including Puncak, Haurwangi, and Gekbrong.
