Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita confirmed that radiation contamination involving Cesium-137 (Cs-137) at the Modern Cikande Industrial Estate in Serang, Banten, has been fully resolved.
“The radioactive issue is already clear. We’ve received an official letter from Bapeten confirming there is no longer any problem,” Agus told reporters on Wednesday (12/11/2025), referring to the Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency
He said the government now plans to lift the temporary ban on metal scrap imports, imposed after the radiation discovery. Companies with verified clearance may resume operations once the policy relaxation is approved.
The Ministry has also instructed industries, especially metal, food, and beverage sectors, to submit quarterly radiation monitoring reports through the National Industrial Information System (SIINas). Manufacturers must also provide proof that their raw materials are free from radioactive substances and install Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and Radiation Portal Monitors (RPM).
