Inp.polri.go.id - Karawang.  To manage heavy holiday traffic, authorities have implemented a contraflow system on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road heading toward Cikampek on Saturday morning (21/12/2024) as traffic surged during the Christmas season.

Ria Marlinda Paallo, the Vice President Corporate Secretary and Legal at PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol, explained that the contraflow system, initiated at 9.40 am, spans KM 55 to KM 65. 

The decision was made under police direction to alleviate congestion, according to antaranews.com..

Drivers are urged to drive carefully, follow road signs, and adhere to instructions from officers on site. Jasamarga also recommends ensuring vehicles are in good condition, electronic toll balances are sufficient, and drivers carry provisions to minimize stops at crowded rest areas.

Traffic jams have persisted since Friday night, primarily involving private vehicles. Rest areas along the toll road have also experienced heavy crowding.

Jasamarga reported a significant increase in vehicle volume, with 64,383 vehicles passing through the Cikampek Utama Toll Gate on Wednesday and Thursday—a 21.1% rise compared to the usual 53,178. Traffic from the east also grew by 14.34%, reaching 57,554 vehicles.
