Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Soekarno-Hatta Customs Office in Tangerang, Banten, disposed of 2,564 boxes of 'After You Milk Bun' from Thailand, weighing a total of 1 ton, seized on Sunday (10/3/2024).
The Thai bread, which recently gained popularity among Indonesian social media users, was incinerated using a specialized machine.
Gatot Sugeng Wibowo, the Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Customs Office, explained that these buns were confiscated from 33 passengers arriving in Soekarno Hatta International Airport in February, according to antaranews.com.
The Food and Drugs Monitoring Agency (BPOM) Regulation No. 28 of 2023 states that passengers arriving from abroad can only bring processed food weighing up to 5 kilograms for personal use, with excess requiring a BPOM distribution permit.
Gatot said that 33 passengers were seized for carrying variously weighted packages of 'After You Milk Bun,' ranging from 10 kilograms to several hundred kilograms.
These Milk Bun After You bread products from Thailand have gained popularity on various social media platforms here," he said.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the seized bread was intended for commercial sale in Indonesia through consignment or personal shopper methods.
