Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police's (INP) plan for a Cyber Directorate at the regional police level has been approved by the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Kemenpan RB), confirmed Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Chief of INP, on Wednesday (27/12/23).
"We're actively improving and fortifying our structure, including establishing the Cyber Directorate in eight regional police, recently approved by the ministry," stsaidted the police chief.
Meanwhile, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, Head of the INP's Public Relations Division, clarified that the permit for establishing the Cyber Directorate in eight regional police was granted by the ministry in November 2023.
He further explained that the need for a specialized Cyber Directorate at the regional police level arises from the escalating prevalence of cybercrime, including false news and hate speech in the current political climate.
