Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force is investigating separate attacks on two police officers in Dekai, Yahukimo Regency, and Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, both located in Papua Mountains.

“The investigation is ongoing to identify the perpetrators behind these assaults,” said Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, the Head of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, over the weekend, as quoted by antara news.com.

Two officers—Senior Brigadier Marsidon Debataraja from Jayawijaya Sub-regional Police and Second Brigadier Yoshua Nainggolan from Yahukimo Sub-regional Police—sustained injuries from gunfire and a bladed weapon, respectively.

Officer Marsidon was shot after escorting a traffic accident victim to Wamena Regional Hospital on Wednesday and was airlifted to Bhayangkara Hospital in Jayapura for further treatment. Meanwhile, officer Yoshua was attacked while visiting a relative at Dekai Regional Hospital.

Both officers are currently receiving medical care in Jayapura. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the incidents are linked or related to armed criminal groups (KKB).
