Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Corrections has transferred 100 high-risk narcotics convicts from prisons in Riau to the super-maximum security facility in Nusakambangan, Central Java, following repeated serious offenses.
“They were caught with drugs and mobile phones while in custody—serious violations that justify moving them to a super-max prison,” said Rika Aprianti, the Head of Correctional Cooperation on Saturday (31/5/2025), as quoted by antara news.com.
The transfer is part of a broader crackdown under the “zero tolerance for phones and drugs” directive issued by the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Agus Andrianto. The inmates will now be held in one-man-per-cell conditions with 24-hour surveillance.
The operation was led by the Correctional Security Directorate, supported by Mobile Brigade police units and regional correctional staff. More than 700 high-risk inmates have been relocated to Nusakambangan under the current administration, aiming to reinforce discipline and ensure that correctional facilities remain secure and drug-free.
