Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has issued a formal appeal to the public to remain calm following the Indonesian Military’s' (TNI) decision to raise the national security status to "Siaga Satu" (Highest Alert).
“The public need not worry because this readiness is precisely to ensure the people feel safe and comfortable, confirming that the Republic remains secure in terms of basic needs and overall stability,” he said during a press conference in Central Jakarta on Thursday (12/3/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The Minister clarified that the elevated alert status is a proactive defensive measure designed to strengthen national resilience against global and domestic geopolitical fluctuations.
He emphasized that the decision was based strictly on geostatistical considerations and does not negatively impact Indonesia's geopolitical or geo-economic standing.
