Inp.polri.go.id - Palu. The Indonesian National Police anti-terrorism Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) and the Central Sulawesi Regional Police's Mobile Brigade team arrested three suspected terrorists in Palu and Ampana on Thursday (19/12/2024).
One suspect, identified Wawan alias Mut, was arrested in Palu, while two others, identified as AS and RR, were arrested in Ampana, Tojo Una-Una District.
The suspects are believed to be involved with the East Indonesia Mujahideen (MIT) group, according to antaranews.com.
Suspect Wawan was captured at a relative's home in Baiya Village, Tawaeli District, Palu, where he had been staying for the past month. He had been on the police's most-wanted list (DPO) for over 11 years.
Authorities seized several items, including a bag, mobile phones, and identification cards.
Adi Suwarman, the Head of Baiya Village’s neighborhood association, said that he was unaware of Wawan’s presence at the residence. He urged locals to report visitors or relatives to prevent similar incidents.
