This technology was used to reach areas difficult for ground personnel to reach, particularly peatlands with a high risk of fire and limited water sources. During this operation, officers also utilized the X-Fire formula to assist with aerial firefighting.

Head of the INP's SLOG Goods and Services Procurement Bureau, Brigadier General Hery Santoso, stated that the firefighting operation lasted from Saturday (9/26/2026) to Monday (9/28/2026). The focus of the effort was on the peatland area of ​​Sungai Bungin Village, Pangkalan Lampam District, and the area surrounding the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road.

"The OKI area has extensive peatlands, is highly susceptible to fire, difficult to access and lacks water, requiring extra care. This innovative aerial spraying of X-Fire liquid is much more practical, economical, and minimizes the risk to personnel in the field," he said.

According to Hery, the use of drones allows officers to reach areas that are difficult to access by land. This technology is also a solution for areas with limited water resources.

Before being used to handle forest and land fires in OKI, the aerial spraying technology underwent a series of trials in Ogan Ilir Regency.

In addition to optimizing technology for extinguishing fires, the police also reminded the public to help prevent new hotspots from emerging. They were asked not to clear land by burning.

The Head of Public Relations for the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, stated that the use of technology is part of an effort to strengthen the police's response to the threat of forest and land fires in South Sumatra.

"As directed by the Regional Police Chief, preventing forest and land fires is not solely the responsibility of the police, but rather a shared responsibility to protect the ecosystem and public health of South Sumatra. The use of drones and X-Fire liquid is a concrete manifestation of optimized handling to prevent fires from spreading," said Nandang.

The South Sumatra Regional Police continued to prioritize prevention, rapid response, extinguishing, and public education. These steps are taken to suppress the potential for new fires and prevent the spread of forest and land fires.
