The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have clarified on Thursday (2/11/2023) that vehicle emission tests were not a condition for the renewal of the vehicle registration, known locally as STNK. "It's not a requirement. The documents for the renewal of the STNK remain unchanged; the emission test is not a requirement," the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Director, Senior Superintendent Latif Usman, said. He asserted that the requirements for renewing the STNK were based on the existing regulation: the original and photocopy of the STNK, the original and photocopy of the vehicle ownership certificate known as BPKB, the original ID card of the owner according to the STNK and BPKB, along with their photocopies. Director Letif explained that the inclusion of the emissions test as a requirement for the renewal of the STNK would change the existing regulations. "We follow the existing rules for vehicle registration and taxation. So far, the emissions test has not been a requirement. We don't apply it," he concluded. (mg/my/pr/nm)
