Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir will retain his position as chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) after receiving formal confirmation from FIFA on Monday (22/9/2025).
The international governing body confirmed that holding both roles does not breach FIFA regulations.
“This morning I received a letter from FIFA stating that, based on my track record in football, there is no conflict of interest. I am clean and clear, and as Minister, I will maintain balance,” Minister Erick said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The minister, appointed Minister by President Prabowo Subianto on 17 September 2025, replaced Dito Ariotedjo.
He emphasized that football will not receive preferential treatment under his ministry, highlighting the government’s commitment to balanced support for all 13–14 prioritized sports. Under FIFA rules, ministers can serve as football federation heads as long as there is no government interference.
