Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Chairman Erick Thohir has hinted that the naturalization process for FC Copenhagen player Kevin Diks is about to begin.

In a post on his official X account (@erickthohir) on Saturday (12/10/2024), he shared a photo shaking hands with Diks, captioned, "Had lunch with F.C. Copenhagen's player of Indonesian descent, not forgetting the handshake. Welcome to Indonesia’s national team, @KevinDiks_."

Diks responded with hand emojis and the Indonesian flag, signaling his readiness to join the team. The player, targeted for naturalization since 2020, has Indonesian roots through his mother, Natasja Dik Bakarbessy, from Ambon, Maluku.

Currently playing for Denmark's top club, Diks has extensive experience in European football, including the UEFA Champions League, and has represented the Netherlands at youth levels, most recently for the U-21 team.

His naturalization is expected to bolster Indonesia's national team as they face tough matches in the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers against Japan and Saudi Arabia this November.
