inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Health stated that expanding web-based mental health services can address several challenges in providing healthcare services, such as limited access and widespread stigma, necessitating innovation to develop these services.

"Mental health challenges are complex due to diverse factors: biological, psychological, and social," said Imran Pambudi, Director of Health Services for Vulnerable Groups at the Ministry of Health, Thursday (January 8, 2025).

Therefore, he commended YARSI University for collaborating with the Australian platform This Way Up through workshops to adopt knowledge to achieve this development and make healthcare services in Indonesia more inclusive.

He explained that two percent of adults in Indonesia experience mental health problems. Furthermore, 1.4 percent experience depression, with the majority of these being between the ages of 15 and 24. Director Imran also mentioned that four in 1,000 people experience schizophrenia.

People with mental health problems often do not receive the services they need due to limited access, a lack of professionals, and stigma.

"Furthermore, we recently learned that several regions in Indonesia have been affected by disasters, which can lead to mental health challenges, such as depression, anxiety, and others," he said.

Because of these challenges, many are using web-based consultation services instead of face-to-face consultations.

This highlights the need for innovation in alternative services. "This aligns with the transformation of healthcare," said Director Imran.

As a commitment to expanding healthcare services, his office is expanding access to healthcare services in primary healthcare facilities and communities through programs aimed at strengthening resilience and creating a supportive environment.
