Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa reassured the public Monday (6/4/2026) that subsidized fuel prices will remain unchanged until the end of the year, despite rising global crude oil costs driven by Middle Eastern tensions.
"We have calculated the budget resilience and are prepared to maintain current prices even if global oil averages 100 dollars per barrel," he said during a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR)’s Commission XI, as cited by antaranews.com.
The government plans to utilize the 420 trillion rupiah Excess Budget Balance (SAL) and increased non-tax state revenue from the energy sector as a financial cushion.
While subsidized fuel remains protected, the Minister noted that non-subsidized fuel prices will continue to fluctuate according to market dynamics. To maintain a budget deficit of 2.92 percent, the ministry is also enforcing efficiency cuts across various government agencies to offset the 6.8 trillion rupiah subsidy burden added for every dollar increase in oil prices.
