Inp.polri.go.id - Lombok. A wildfire that scorched approximately 100 hectares along the Senaru hiking trail of Mount Rinjani in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), has been extinguished, according to the Gunung Rinjani National Park Authority (TNGR).
No injuries were reported in the fire.
“The latest monitoring, using satellite data and field reports, confirms the fire is fully extinguished,” said Yarman, the Head of TNGR in Mataram, on Thursday (14/11/2024).
The fire, which ignited on Wednesday, was first detected near the Senaru route via the Sipongi app, used for hotspot monitoring. Guides and porters descending from the trail initially reported the flames in the Batu Ceper area.
To ensure visitor safety, the Senaru hiking entrance has been temporarily closed starting Thursday until conditions stabilize.
TNGR has urged visitors to exercise caution and to use fire responsibly while in the national park.
"We advise all hikers, especially those near Segara Anak Lake, to avoid the Senaru trail as a precaution,” Yarman added, as reported by antaranews.com.
