inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has triggered flooding in several areas across three provinces: Central Sulawesi, South Kalimantan, and West Java.

The Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, stated that the flooding from overflowing rivers due to the heavy rainfall has inundated thousands of homes and public facilities, forcing some residents to evacuate.

The BNPB Operations Control Center reported that in Central Sulawesi Province, flooding struck Tuladenggi Pantai Village, Moutong District, Parigi Moutong Regency, on Monday (5/18/2026). 

This disaster has inundated 66 homes, one health facility, one place of worship, and one public facility.

Meanwhile, significant flooding hit South Kalimantan Province, spreading across two districts: Tapin Regency and Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency. In Tapin, 155 homes in Lawahan Village, South Tapin District, were inundated, affecting 589 people.

In Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, floodwaters inundated three sub-districts, damaging 2,489 homes, 12 places of worship, 13 educational facilities, and 15 office buildings, with water levels ranging from 10 to 60 centimeters.

Meanwhile, on Java Island, flooding hit Cirebon Regency, West Java, due to overflowing rivers that flooded residential areas in four sub-districts. A total of 1,363 homes were inundated, affecting 5,139 people, with 30 residents forced to evacuate to relatives' homes.

"The current situation in Parigi Moutong and Cirebon is that the floodwaters are starting to recede. However, BPBD officers in each region remain on standby to carry out emergency response, rapid assessments, and evacuate residents to safe locations," explained Abdul, on Tuesday (5/19/2026).
