Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian government expressed on Tuesday (19/5/2026)  strong support for China's agenda as the APEC 2026 chair, specifically championing inclusive digital transformation across Asia-Pacific economies.

"Specifically, Indonesia emphasizes the priority issue of inclusive digital transformation. Primarily, how this digital transformation can benefit micro, small, and medium enterprises, women-led businesses, and youth-run ventures," said Santo Darmosumarto, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Director General for Asia-Pacific and Africa, after the APEC Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM) in Shanghai, as reported by antaranews.com..

In addition to digitalization, Indonesia emphasized strengthening supply chain resilience and security amid ongoing Middle East tensions. 

Director General Santo highlighted that MSMEs are crucial to Indonesia's domestic stability, contributing 60 percent to the national GDP and absorbing 97 percent of the workforce. By reinforcing free trade frameworks within APEC, Indonesia aims to secure direct economic benefits for local businesses, he said.
