Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Wednesday(8/4/2026) that 720 Indonesian citizens stranded across the Middle East due to severe flight disruptions are currently being processed for immediate repatriation following the newly announced US-Iran ceasefire.

"We are currently managing 720 citizens who were caught in the aviation disruption. Our teams of various Middle Eastern representatives are coordinating their flights back to Indonesia," said Heni Hamidah, the Acting Director for Citizen Protection, during a press briefing reported by antaranews.com.

To date, Indonesian missions have facilitated the independent repatriation of 2,284 citizens, excluding umrah pilgrims who were also affected by the regional airspace closures.

In Iran specifically, 281 citizens remain, including 35 crew members stationed along the coast. The Indonesian Embassy in Tehran is preparing a new wave of evacuations, meticulously mapping safe transit routes now that the Strait of Hormuz is set to reopen. Officials emphasized that while the two-week ceasefire provides a critical window, the evacuation plans remain flexible to account for the fluid security situation on the ground.
