The Jambi Regional Police's Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) questioned former Minister of State-Owned Enterprises  Dahlan Iskan on Monday (2/10/2023) related to a corruption case involving one of the state-owned palm oil companies. After undergoing a thorough examination that lasted approximately 4.5 hours, Dahlan Iskan said that he had to answer numerous questions during the questioning. One of the key pieces of evidence presented during the questioning was related to payments linked to the acquisition of palm oil land by a subsidiary of a palm oil company. This evidence indicated that payments had been made before the completion of the buying and selling process. "If I feel deceived, it's because the transaction occurred before receiving approval from the Ministry," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying, commenting of his feeling after seeing the evidence. The corruption case centers around the acquisition of shares in a palm oil plantation company located in East Tanjung Jabung Regency by a state-owned palm oil company. The acquisition took place in 2012 and is estimated to have potentially caused a loss to the state of approximately Rp73 billion. Superintendent Ade Dirman, the Head of Sub-Directorate III of the Corruption Crime Investigation Directorate of the Jambi Regional Police, explained that Dahlan Iskan was summoned as a witness due to his position as the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises at the time of the alleged corrupt activities. The police sought his insights into the financial aspects of the case. The Jambi Regional Police had named the former director of one of the palm oil companies, as the suspect in the case. The police investigation revealed that the acquisition process of the palm oil company's subsidiary was highly problematic, leading to Rp 73 billion in state losses. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
