Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced on Wednesday (1/4/2026) that the government will inject an additional Rp 90 trillion to Rp100 trillion into energy subsidies to mitigate the impact of soaring global oil prices.
"We have calculated all variables, ensuring that even with oil at $100 per barrel, the state budget deficit remains locked below three percent," he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
The supplementary funding specifically targets subsidies for 3kg LPG canisters and diesel fuel, distinct from separate compensation payouts to state energy firm Pertamina. This strategic move brings the total energy security budget to approximately Rp381.3 trillion as the government navigates regional conflicts affecting global supply chains.
Despite the significant spending increase, Minister Purbaya assured the public that the national budget remains resilient. Officials have prepared multiple economic scenarios to manage potential currency fluctuations and rising crude prices, maintaining a projected deficit of 2.9 percent to provide a buffer against international market volatility while protecting household purchasing power.
