The Communication and Informatics Ministry have banned 4,8 millions of negative contents throughout the internet since 2018 to 2024. “We also immediately blocked pornographic and gambling contents,” says the Directorate General of Informatics Applications Secretary I Nyoman Adhiarna, Thursday (22/2/24). Adhiarna revealed that of the 4,8 millions of negative contents blocked by the ministry, 2,9 millions of them are negative contents in internet websites while the other 1,9 millions are negative contents found in social media. According to the statistics of negative internet websites contents banning, most of them involving gambling contents with 1,7 million contents and 1,2 millions other contents are relating to pornography. Other than that, Irwan also said few of other contents blocked in the internet websites are those involving cultural inappropriation, disturbing public comfort, racism, separatism contents, defamation, anarchy and child abuse. “For negative contents in social media that have been blocked, most of them are from X or Twitter, which are 1,3 million contents, followed by Facebook, file sharing, Google, telegram, TikTok, Michat, Line, and Yahoo,” said Adhiarna. His party said that they are improving coordination with social media company to eliminate the negative contents. “There are still many negative contents and our current achievements are thanks to our hard work in the past six years,” said Adhiarna. Moreover, the ministry is also trying to improve machine capabilities and human resources for negative content handling. (ad/inp/pr/nm)
